Unidos da Tijuca is Rio de Janeiro’s third oldest school and last years champion. They have quite a bit of pride and also a lot of pressure as they defend their title in 2011. Hopefully their theme “Tonight take your soul,” paying homage to horror films will grab the attention they need!

And on a side note, probably one the Tijuca doesn’t want to remember: Check out the video below. At the Parade of Champions 2007, while in attendance, I witnessed their float catch on fire! As far as I know, no one was hurt, but it turned out to be quite a spectacle… and how ironic that the devil is the float that catches fire?!
